My philosophical approach is holistic in nature and based on the components of mindfulness, motivation and momentum. Mindfulness relates to learning to live in the moment. The therapeutic process will help to create more resilience to life obstacles through motivation and the momentum to sustain healthy relationships.
TRAINING AND BIOGRAPHY
My education background comes from obtaining a BS in Management from Post University, Waterbury, CT and an MA in Community Counseling from Saint Joseph College, West Hartford, CT. Extensive business experience will be useful in assisting clients through the various challenges associated with the transitional periods in one’s life. Community-minded with volunteer and fund raising experience for charitable organizations such as Special Olympics and the United Way. Member of Connecticut Counseling Association and American Counseling Association.
Work experience includes crisis counseling for victims of domestic violence and certification through the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Group facilitator for both a mothers’ educational group and a women’s self-esteem group at The Interval House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence. Substance Abuse Counselor group facilitator at an in-patient facility; facilitator for relapse-prevention and anger management groups.

I received my Master of Arts in Community Counseling from the University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford, Connecticut. I did my internship at Saint Joseph’s counseling center and at the Connection Inc. in outpatient services as a therapist. I went on to work at Catholic Charities and Connecticut Renaissance in outpatient substance and behavioral health as a clinician in Intensive Outpatient Services, Substance Abuse, Relapse Prevention, Co-occurring Mental Disorders, Anger Management and Seeking Safety Groups and a broad range of individual counseling in mental/behavior health as well as trauma and traumatic brain injury.
My services include but are not limited to:
Individual counseling and group counseling for most mental health disorders and psychological concerns, as well as counseling in career, academic, acculturation, transition, inter- personal relationships, consensus building, grief, crisis management, trauma, sexual abuse, physical abuse, substance abuse with and without co-occurring disorders, employer/employee dynamics, and other life issues.
Present psycho-education workshops for mental health disorders such as Anxiety, career counseling, substance abuse, and Post Traumatic Stress. Administer and interpret depression, anxiety, quality of life, personality, academic and occupational assessment instruments.Perform evaluations, assessment, diagnosis, psycho-education as well as therapeutic techniques. Develop individualized goal oriented treatment utilizing evidenced based solution focused and brief plans. Provide Crisis Management and Risk Assessment. Coordinate outreach and provide advocacy;Possess experience working in a collaborative effort with diverse populations in education, government agencies, contractors and corporations within all skill levels. Trained in Multi-cultural counseling and cultural sensitivity in the workplace.
