Practice Philosophy

As a dedicated practitioner and compassion for helping others, a new foundation of conscious awareness can unfold to help clients cultivate a new perspective on their lives. Having the determination and a zest for life will encourage clarity and empowerment to clients willing to explore uncharted areas which can lead to abundance and a more meaningful life. Through assessment, goal setting and motivation the individual can gain a better perspective of their lives and welcome a new beginning.

Modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, EMDR I& II, TF-CBT Trauma

Techniques: educational and motivational teachings, breathing, mindful meditation, guided imagery and visualizations, EFT etc.

Training and Biography

Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Connecticut and a Nationally Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors. Two associations are Connecticut Counseling Association and American Counseling Association. Specialization work with difficult behaviors associated with children and youths. Some significant areas of expertise are behavioral management, trauma and life altering changes. Educational background comes from two perspectives having earned both a business administrative degree and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology. Degrees are from Norwich University/Vermont College.  Current schooling, starting May 2014 St. Joseph’s University for BCBA certification as a  Board Certified Behavioral Analysis.

Some prior work experience includes working inpatient with chronically mentally ill; populations served were adults and teenagers. Other affiliations associated were in an outpatient capacity working with the same populations also working in the community with crisis work. Other work experiences have been working with children and youths in therapeutic foster care while teaching foster parents how to respond to children with difficult behaviors mostly related to attachment and trauma. Having been on many boards associated with mental illness such as permanency planning with State Agencies, helps to understand the different challenges associated with children and families.

Other work is with State Agencies to do reunification, behavioral modification, and counsel children and their families who have significant trauma. This work entails doing court assessments to assist in services needed for the client which may be reunification, foster adoption services and in-home family preservation therapy. Past affiliations were as Clinical Director working with the Juvenile Justice System for female adolescents suffering with trauma and mental illness.

Other interests have been writing news articles for The Legislative Corner in The Connecticut Counselor for Connecticut Counseling Association regarding all current legislative for Counselors both nationally and statewide. In training’s, throughout the year to learn new methods to helping clients survive their worlds. Life coach as a masters level therapist for individuals and corporations.
